Saturday, August 23, 2014 saw the official opening celebration for the Swezey-Avey House Renovation and the 40th Anniversary of the Yaphank Historical Society. The Swezey-Avey House is a shared renovation/restoration by the Town of Brookhaven Parks & Recreation Department and The Yaphank Historical Society. Over 250 guests attended the celebration, including Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine, Suffolk County Legislators DuWayne Gregory, Kate Browning and John Kennedy, NYS Senator Ken LaValle, and NYS Assemblymen Dean Murray and Edward Hennessy, and former NYS Senator Brian Foley.

Thank you to all the generous Friends and Supporters who turned out to enjoy the refreshments and look at the many permanent exhibits that will remain on display in our new headquarters.
